BeritaGresik.com – Ketua Fraksi Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP) MPR RI Arwani Thomafi mengajak kepada seluruh elemen bangsa agar tetap menjaga kerukunan antar umat beragama menjelang pelaksanaan Pemilu 2024.
“Jangan sampai karena persaingan dan perbedaan pilihan melupakan nilai-nilai toleransi dan kedamaian seperti yang diajarkan dalam agama,” kata Arwani dalam Sosialisasi Empat Pilar MPR RI di Tuban, Selasa (19/12/2023).
Menurutnya, pemilu merupakan ajang untuk memilih pemimpin sesuai dengan sistem demokrasi yang dianut negara Indonesia, sehingga harus disambut dengan riang gembira dan saling menghormati pilihan masing-masing orang.
“Jangan sampai peilu justru membuat masyarakat terpecah belah, apalagi sampai memaksanakan pilihannya kepada orang lain. Masyarakat memiliki hak untuk memilih sesuai dengan pilihannya karena itu dilindung undang-undang,” ujarnya.
ia juga memaparkan, bahwa hakikat demokrasi sejalan dengan prinsip-prinsip ajaran agama. Antara lain mengutamakan musyawarah dalam pengambilan keputusan, pentingnya kontrol terhadap penguasa, serta memelihara kemaslahatan umat.
